As a Top 20 NRHA Professional who has won several individual titles and coached successful reining teams, Jonathan Gauthier knows a thing or two about training young horses and riders.
Over the course of his career, Gauthier has created foundational programs for reining horses, that have proven highly effective across Western disciplines including cutting, roping and barrel racing.
It was while building those foundational programs that Gauthier saw a need for effective training tools made with exceptional quality materials. That need led him to develop his own line of bits and spurs with Metalab.
Gauthier began his professional career in Europe, competing in nearly every European country. The bulk of his time was spent in France, where he served as the country’s national trainer at the 2006 World Equestrian Games. The following three years were spent successfully running his own training business near Munich, Germany.
After returning to the United States, in 2010, Gauthier won the NRHA Open Futurity levels 1-2-3 and placed 12th in the Level 4 Open Futurity Finals. Since then, he has made it to the finals of, or won, various levels of the Open Futurity.
He has spent more than ten years operating JG Reining Horses, a successful horse training and showing business and co-founded Prospects Unlimited, a company that specializes in buying and selling reining horses.
Through his philosophy of exceptional care and training, quality nutrition and promotional integrity, Jonathan has earned a reputation as a good role model for all young, ambitious trainers who are eager to learn.
