Bio

Whether he wants to admit it or not, Mason cowboy Tyler Magnus is a legendary rodeo competitor who continues to pass on his sage advice from an illustrious career that spans nearly 40 years.

So many variables come into play for team roping, and Magnus acknowledged how difficult it is to have really fast times on back-to-back runs.

Magnus is a nine-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier and a former NFR average champion in team roping. In 2009, he was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame at a museum at the Fort Worth Stockyards.

"Do the things that other people are not doing to give yourself that edge. Learn from everyone. The only way that you can improve is to learn from the guys that do it the best and come up with something better." - Tyler Mangus

The western way of life is very important to Magnus, to live it every day. He sees it is his mission in life and career is to continue it, pass it onto the next generation, and educate others on the western way of life because it’s a part of history that shouldn’t go away. Magnus teaches individuals and clinics.

Roping is definitely a family affair for the Magnus household. In addition to his son, Tyler, his oldest daughter, Ruby, is a very accomplished roper in her own right.

Magnus knows he’s in the sunset of his career as a professional, but kind of like Tom Brady in the NFL, he’s not sure when the final chapter will come, but looking back on his prestigious career, he wouldn’t change a thing.
